Missing

Although we do not talk much about art here (see post If you like art, more art you like ), dated January 6, 2010 I left a post dedicated to the exhibition Maternity (worth reading again the post ), excellent exposure to photojournalist very impressive Caixa Forum Madrid which was reflected in the words of Rou Rovira: "There is nothing no one can ever deprive a man of his inner strength. You can always find in you a glimmer of humanity and beauty that grab. The relationship between a mother and her child belongs to this world heritage, private and intimate able to survive any situation no matter how bad things get. "And is that photojournalism is becoming an alternative that is stronger as a form of social protest (see post cage Men the XII International Humanitarian Photography Award Luis ValtueƱa).

few days ago I was at the Exhibition Missing , a sample of Gervasio Sanchez (Cordoba, 1959) that stands as a powerful document against forgetting and is intended to rescue the buried memory of missing persons in various military conflicts and processes of repression throughout the world such as Chile, Cambodia, Guatemala, Iraq, Bosnia, Spain ...

The exhibition can be viewed in Lit House, a cultural center of the Caja Madrid, between 2 February and 20 March. Admission is free.

The exhibit features a total of 255 photographs, 8 wall with 80 portraits. In addition, the sample includes two audio-visual recordings that bring us the experience of relatives of missing evidence and reveal and reproduce the ambient sound of detention centers and places of burial. The exhibition begins with facilities to torture and, often, to wipe out the victims (prisons, barracks), followed by the memorials created in memory of the missing, family portraits, pictures of personal belongings of the missing (a comb, a shoe, your favorite chair), the search processes, exhumation, identification and return.

If you can go see the show, and blog Gervasio Sanchez says you can follow where many photographs. The number 77 TV Lit House can see a preview of the exhibition Missing (minutes from 1.30 to 5) together with other reports. The program is also broadcast in La 2 on Thursdays at 19.30.
